MEF18 Proof of Concept with AT&T: Boosting uCPE with SDN/NFV/legacy capabilities including network & VNF service chain monitoring & plugware for universal access & brownfield Deployments. The PoC participants were AT&T and RAD.
This PoC addresses the challenges of adapting uCPE to fit real world needs and requirements. The PoC shows three key innovations: (1) multiple services running on a universal CPE; (2) multiple access technologies that terminate on the uCPE; and (3) management of this virtual infrastructure. The PoC demonstrates uCPE implementation where an enhanced white/grey box provides NFV infrastructure, networking, and orchestration of value-added services with service assurance, as well as network connectivity to existing core routers over TDM using PPP/MLPPP protocol.

PoC at BCE 2018 – Boosting uCPE White Box Capabilities and Performance: In this demo, we show how RAD’s vCPE Toolbox helps boost white box performance, adding hardware acceleration and interface conversion functionalities.
The demo presents two options for transferring a video stream between sites:
– White Box installed at Customer Site A with TDM Access to Packet Switched Network and Data Center
– Encrypted Ethernet Access with Enhanced Analytics from Site B. A similar PoC, together with AT&T, will be showcased this year at MEF18 in Los Angeles, USA.

MEF17 Proof of Concept (PoC) Silver Award: This PoC together with Telia Company showcased real world implementations of SD-WAN Managed Services with complementary virtualized functions, over multi-domain, multi-vendor infrastructure. RAD’s contribution consisted of the ETX-2i with its carrier grade vCPE-OS operating system, which combine advanced NID and vCPE functionalities. In this PoC, the ETX-2i hosted the SD-WAN VNF and service-chained it with a firewall VNF. The ETX-2i and vCPE-OS are part of RAD’s vCPE Toolbox, which brings together service assurance- for any VNF over any access, and with open interfaces for any orchestrator. This allows controlled, low-risk transition to vCPE/SDN.

Mudra is a wrist-worn gesture recognition device. It enables the user to control technology wirelessly by using various subtle finger movements. Proprietary sensors capture bi-potential signals on the wrist, and algorithms translate and classify them to as a user-intended gesture. Discrete gestures are individual finger movement – index finger, thumb finger, the soft tap of the index or middle finger on the thumb, which are used as functions to navigate menus – select, scroll up/down, go back.
